Liebe Patinnen und Unterstützerinnen,

Ich, Cordula, bin nun schon fast auf dem Weg nach Kenia zum Projektbesuch - aber vorab ist es noch Zeit für eine Rückschau auf den Oktober - ein Monat, in dem sehr viel passiert ist in unserem Projekt in Rabai, Kenia.

Wir bauen eine neue Schule!

Lange haben wir darauf hingearbeitet - ein Grundstück gekauft, sorgfältig geplant und Spenden gesammelt und Ende September war es soweit - wir haben mit dem Bau unserer neuen Schule begonnen. Alle haben mitgeholfen - sogar unsere Mütter waren auf der Baustelle im Einsatz.

Und nach nur 6 Wochen ist die erste Bauphase für unsere neue Schule nun fast beendet und die Eröffnung steht kurz bevor. Wenn Ihr dabei sein möchtet - auf Social Media wird es viele Fotos und Videos von der Eröffnung geben.

Unsere Schulanfänger

Im Oktober fand auch die Auswahl der 30 Kinder statt, die ab Januar unsere Schule besuchen werden. Über 170 Familien haben sich beworben, 50 wurden zu Hause besucht und aus diesen wurden am Ende die 30 bedürftigsten Familien ausgewählt.

Wichtig ist für uns, dass die Eltern Interesse zeigen an der Bildung ihrer Kinder. Wenn die Eltern sich bemühen, aber einfach keine Chance haben, den Schulbesuch der Kinder zu stemmen - dann finden sie einen Platz bei uns an der Schule.

Für diese 30 Kinder suchen wir Patinnen und Paten. Mit einer Patenschaft über 20 Euro/Monat (10 Euro/Teilpatenschaft) ermöglichst Du einem Kind den Schulbesuch, es bekommt bei uns an der Schule zu essen und die nötige Schulausstattung.

Nach zwei Jahren wechselt Dein Patenkind an eine öffentliche Primary School. Auch diese kostet Schulgebühren - Du kannst es mit Deiner Patenschaft weiter unterstützen.

Aber wir suchen nicht nur Paten für diese Kinder, sondern wir möchten auch dafür sorgen, dass sie gut und sicher schlafen können. Die Wohn- und Schlafsituationen der meisten Familien sind unvorstellbar - oft schlafen die Kinder auf dem Boden, auf Matratzenfetzen oder alten Säcken.

Bitte helft uns mit einer Spende für Matratzen, Betten und Moskitonetze - denn nur so können die Kinder auch gut lernen und sind, besonders wichtig, vor Malaria geschützt.

In unserem Spendenshop findet Ihr alle Kinder, die hier Hilfe brauchen - auch eine Spende in Höhe Eurer Wahl ist möglich. Spenden auf unser Konto sind natürlich ebenso willkommen.

Sandras Herz-OPs

Sandra ist im Oktober aus Bomet zurückgekehrt. Dort hatte sie am Tenwek Hospital drei neue Herzklappen und einen Herzschrittmacher erhalten. Es geht ihr besser als vor der Operation, sie hat mehr Energie und Kraft. Aber noch ist es nicht ausgestanden - gerade ist die OP-Wunde entzündet und muss behandelt werden. Sandra wird außerdem lebenslang starke Medikamente brauchen.

Daher suchen wir Herz-Paten ❤️ für Sandra, die sie jeden Monat mit einem Betrag nach Wahl unterstützen - schon eine Herz-Patenschaft über 5 Euro monatlich hilft! Hier erfährst Du mehr.

Außerdem ist diesen Monat Katana, der kleine Junge mit Zerebralparese aus der Schule zurückgekehrt und hat wieder mit der Physiotherapie gestartet, unsere großen PP2 Kids hatten Aufnahmetests an Primary Schools und unser Ferienprogramm ist wieder gestartet.

Dear sponsors and supporters,

I, Cordula, am now almost on my way to Kenya to visit the project – but first, there is still time to look back on October – a month in which a lot happened in our project in Rabai, Kenya.

We are building a new school!

We have been working towards this for a long time – we bought a plot of land, planned carefully and collected donations, and at the end of September the time had come – we started building our new school. Everyone helped – even our mothers were working on the construction site.

And after only six weeks, the first phase of construction for our new school is now almost complete and the opening is just around the corner. If you would like to be there, there will be lots of photos and videos of the opening on social media.

In October, we selected the 30 children who will be attending our school from January onwards. Over 170 families applied, 50 were visited at home and, from these, the 30 most needy families were ultimately selected.

It is important to us that parents show an interest in their children's education. If parents make an effort but simply cannot afford to send their children to school, they will find a place at our school.

We are looking for sponsors for these 30 children. With a sponsorship of 20 euros/month (10 euros/partial sponsorship), you enable a child to attend school, receive meals at our school and obtain the necessary school supplies.
After two years, your sponsored child will transfer to a public primary school. This also costs school fees – you can continue to support them with your sponsorship.

But we are not only looking for sponsors for these children, we also want to ensure that they can sleep well and safely. The living and sleeping conditions of most families are unimaginable – children often sleep on the floor, on scraps of mattresses or old sacks.
Please help us with a donation for mattresses, beds and mosquito nets – this is the only way to ensure that the children can learn well and, most importantly, are protected from malaria.

Sandra's heart surgery

Sandra returned from Bomet in October. There, at Tenwek Hospital, she received three new heart valves and a pacemaker. She is doing better than before the operation and has more energy and strength. But she is not out of the woods yet – the surgical wound is currently inflamed and needs to be treated. Sandra will also need strong medication for the rest of her life.

In addition, Katana, the little boy with cerebral palsy, returned from school this month and started physiotherapy again, the older PP2 kids had entrance exams at primary schools, and our holiday programme has started again.
